Donggang Overview:

Donggang city named Andong county in ancient time, this city is located at the eastern of liaotung peninsula and established in 1876. Opposite to South Korea and North Korea, the city represents the furthest northern border city along Chinese coastline. After authorization of the state department in 1965, Jan. ,Andong county changes its name to Donggou city and on June, 18th, 1993 Donggou county is cancelled and then establishing Donggang city by authorization of the state department as a county-level city managed by Dandong city. Donggang city covers a land area of 2445 square meters with its marine space of 17,051 square meters. 16 villages, 3 street offices, 5 farms, 2 provincial development zones are under its control, with population of 640,000.
Donggang city is an important publicizing city opened to Korean peninsula and with the function of developing relevant commercial and trade activity. Dandong civil airport is 17 kilometers away from Donggang city, until now this airport has set up international and domestic airlines. Situated in sea entrance of Yalu River, the Donggang port has 4 over tons berths and the whole year throughput can reach up to 4 million tons, also transport to over 20 countries in the world. Now the passenger/cargo transportation between Donggang and Korea, Japan is open, so that the transportation and communication is developing quickly.
Donggang city is located in the Liaotung peninsula, the southern part of Yellow River and eastern part of Yalu river opposing the Korean peninsula, its geographical position is very special, a city along river, sea, and border which is also the furthest northern city along Chinese coastline.  The coastline is 93.5 kilometers with coordinate 123°22’30"E to 124° 22’ 30" E and 39°  45’N to 40°  15’N. The length of whole borderline from north to west is 83 kilometers and from south to north 38 kilometers with various physiognomy types, lower in the south and higher in the north like a trapezium. There are some hills in north and lots of lower hills in the middle, the south part is composed of plain and beach along the river.
With abundance natural resource, Donggang city owns 1.06 million acres shallow sea with lower than 10 meters fathom line. The beach area can reach up to 0.36 million acres. Over 140 kinds of different seafood, also it’s one of the export and production base of shrimp and shellfish, the total output of clam, short necked clam, prawn, crab, ark shell, spiral shell is over 10 thousands tons per year. Resource of offing halobios is very rich which provides a good place for multiply, inhabitance, living through the winter, getting bait of halobios, also it’s a very important production base in Liaoning Province. The main seashell includes Philippine short-necked clam, hard clam, blue clam, periwinkle, top shell, trumpet shell are shell, etc. The main fish consist of Spanish mackerel, yellow croaker croaker, pickerel, flatfish, etc. main shrimp and crab includes prawn, white shrimp, white-hair rough shrimp, squilla, swimming crab, Chinese tiger-head crab, etc. 
In possession of 1.2 million acres area under cultivation, including 0.7 million acres rice field, with 0.4 million tons annual foodstuff output, mostly of which are rice, this city is the main production area of high-quality rice in China. Based on over 100 kinds of fruit and vegetable, it becomes the largest production base of high-quality strawberry in China. Not only full of water resource, there are 12 main rivers and 42 variant reservoirs, but also be prolific of underground mineral resources. Over 20 kinds of mine can be exploited here, such as gold, marble, kaolin and pencil stone, etc, within them the reserve rate of kaolin is the largest in China.
